Statement:

My paintings are created using a vocabulary of figurative and abstract motifs.

I construct a dialogue by manoeuvering these elements so that the relationships they have to one another change as I paint.

Paintings are reworked using acrylic and collage on canvas and paper. The paint is overlaid each new layer, partly obscuring evidence of the previous layer. The paintings begin to reflect reality for me as this activity becomes evident. In doing this a search for a tentative and fragile order is emphasised.
A painting is resolved if this can be achieved.
