The
Goldschmidt project has developed from an original exhibit in Christ
Church Picture Gallery in 1997 (pictured left), which was of a 6 foot
by 4 foot series of 14 acrylic paintings. Each painting was named
after one of the asteroid discoveries of Goldschmidt in the period
1852 to 1861. In the section "Rocks", brief information
about each asteroid is given. In the section "Dates" a timeline
of Goldschmidt's life is being developed.
The International Astronomy Union web site has details of new asteroids
and some historical information .
You may check the latest positions of the fourteen asteroids
here.
