Danae: The Story Behind the Name
Danae
Daughter of Acrisius, Danae was confined to a brazen tower which Jupiter entered as a golden shower. A very popular theme for painters over the years. Her son Perseus was put in a chest and sent to sea, but discovered by Dictys, brother of Polydectes, king of the island of Seriphos, who sent Perseus on his quest. Eventually Perseus was indeed responsible for the death of his father.
